Burgos-BH was not invited at the 2024 Vuelta a Espana, but on Wednesday the team’s bus was suddenly seen in the race.
The bus of Soudal Quick-Step had problems before stage 4 and the riders of the Belgian formation were forced to get ready for the stage on the street as they were welcomed by local residents, for example to go to the toilet.
A day later, the team bus had still not been repaired, so a solution had to be found. Because of the extremely high temperatures, which are approaching 40 degrees in the south of Spain, the team wanted a good bus with air conditioning. And then, on Wednesday before the start, the purple bus of Burgos-BH suddenly appeared.
The Spanish newspaper Marca spoke to bus driver David, who used to work for the Soudal team.
“I was on holiday in France with my family and got a call that Quick-Step had a problem with their bus. I went back to Burgos very early, after which I managed to make it to the start in time,” said the driver.
