Joao Almeida climbed to 5th in the general classification of the Tour de France after stage 11, while his teammate Tadej Pogacar remains the leader of the race.
“It could have been better, but it was a good day,” said the Portuguese rider after the stage.
“I think they [Visma] came at the Tour as underdogs, but we knew he [Vingegaard] was very good. I can’t say more, because you see that Jonas is flying. I think his descents are pretty good. Maybe he’s not the best descender, but he’s doing quite well. That shows that he has overcome the crash.”
“We wanted to attack and make a difference, the team did a great job so we will definitely try again,” said Almeida. “Pogacar took time on almost everyone, that’s the most important thing.”
