Quick-Step Floors will stay with Patrick Lefevere’s team for the next six years, the flooring company announced on the first rest day of Giro d’Italia.
“This is my longest sponsorship contract ever,” Lefevere said. “We always want to remain a winning team and we dream of a Belgian rider who will win the Tour de France in the future.”
“Most contracts in the sports world are over within two or three years, but this collaboration is very good,” added Lefevere. “I don’t think there is much difference between doing business and racing. You have to reinvent yourself every day and stay ahead of the competition. ”
Ruben Desmet of Quick-Step Floors is also happy with the contract extension. It is already the 23rd year that Quick-Step has been linked to the cycling team. In 1998 the company entered the peloton as co-sponsor of the then Mapei team.
“We have been working together for 23 years and we are growing year after year. That is something we are very proud of. Cycling is a fantastic sport and this team exudes a will to always win and we have that too. We see that with the team and we see it with us ”, says Desmet.
In recent months the contracts of leaders Remco Evenepoel (until the end of 2026) and Julian Alaphilippe (until the end of 2024) have been extended for a long time. Kasper Asgreen and Michael Mørkøv also recently signed extensions.
