The UAE Tour will count on twenty teams for 2021 edition with all 19 top-level teams confirmed at the start. Alpecin-Fenix is also participating because the Belgian team was the best ProTeam in 2020.

This season the UAE Tour will be held from February 21 to 27. Abu Dhabi is the place where the stage race will start. In addition, the final stage will finish in the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The rest of the route will be announced later.

Mathieu van der Poel has already promised his participation in the race. He starts his road season there and will therefore skip the Flemish opening weekend.

“I think that is a better run-up to the classics,” said the leader of Alpecin-Fenix.

Last year, the UAE Tour was not completed. The peloton had to stay in the hotel for a few days after the fifth stage due to a corona outbreak in one of the hotels. At the time, it was one of the first races to deal with the consequences of the coronavirus. The overall victory was ultimately awarded to Adam Yates, who led the classification after five stages.
