Tadej Pogacar delivered a stunning performance to claim his first victory at the Milano–Sanremo.

The Slovenian star overcame a crash with 32 kilometers remaining before mounting a remarkable comeback, rejoining the peloton and positioning himself for a decisive move in the closing stages.

As the race reached the crucial climbs of the Cipressa and Poggio, Pogacar’s UAE Team Emirates squad drove the pace to set up an attack. On the Poggio, he accelerated hard, dropping key rival Mathieu van der Poel, with only Tom Pidcock able to follow. The pair worked together over the summit and into the descent, opening a small but vital gap over a chasing group that included several top contenders.

The race came down to a tense two-man sprint on the Via Roma, with Pogacar narrowly edging Pidcock after more than six and a half hours of racing. Behind them, Wout van Aert led the chase but finished just seconds back, unable to close the gap before the line.

The win marks Pogacar’s first triumph at Milano–Sanremo and adds another Monument to his already extraordinary résumé, bringing him closer to completing cycling’s full set of five Monuments.
