Wildcard teams announced for the Tour de France

The organisers of the Tour de France have chosen the teams that will take part in the 104th edition (July 1-23).

French teams Cofidis, Direct Energie and Fortuneo-Vital Concept have been awarded places at the French Grand Tour, along with Belgian squad Wanty-Groupe Gobert.

ASO has also named wildcard teams for Paris-Nice, which runs from March 5 – 12. The teams invited again are Cofidis, Direct Energie and Fortuneo – Vital Concept, with a fourth French team, Delko Marseille Provence KTM, joining them.

Three of those four gain an invite to the Critérium du Dauphiné (June 4 – 11). Cofidis, Direct Energie and Delko Marseille Provence KTM will ride, while Fortuneo – Vital Concept makes way for Wanty – Groupe Gobert.

The 2017 Tour de France starts in Dusseldorf, Germany on Saturday July 1 and finishes three weeks later in Paris on Sunday, July 23.
