Nairo Quintana will head up a strong Movistar team at the Tour de France. World champion Alejandro Valverde is also confirmed in the line-up.

The Colombian will start in the race for the sixth time and he has been preparing in his home country to face the competition in the best conditions possible.

Quintana has taken two stage victories in the French race, won the youth classification twice, topped the mountains classification in 2013 and has stood three times on the final podium.

The Colombian has made the race his main focus this season, while Mikel Landa will follow up a ride at the Giro d’Italia with a tilt at the Tour.

Landa was fourth in 2017, while Valverde will be competing in his 12th Tour – he won four stages in his glittering career, making the podium in 2015 when finishing third.

Movistar team for the Tour de France: Nairo Quintana, Mikel Landa, Alejandro Valverde, Marc Soler, Andrey Amador, Carlos Verona, Imanol Erviti and Nelson Oliveira.
