Primoz Roglic wins Tour of the Basque Country 2018

LottoNL-Jumbo has confirmed its Tour de France line-up and with no surprises, Steven Kruijswijk and Primoz Roglic will co-lead the team while Dylan Groenewegen is their man for the sprints.

Last week, Roglic beat Rigoberto Uran, second in the 2017 Tour, to win the Tour of Slovenia in impressive manner. The Slovenian is also armed with overall triumphs at this year’s Tour de Romandie and Tour of the Basque country.

“Perhaps he can be one of those surprise riders we see in the Tour de France,” Movistar team boss Eusebio Unzué said. “He’s a younger rider, he’s getting more experience. He’s had a great season so far. He’s been climbing with the best, and is obviously very good in the time trial.

Steven Kruijswijk will co-lead the Dutch team alongside Rolgic in France. Kruijswijk will return to the race after being absent since 2015. The best result the rider has achieved in the race is the 15th position in 2015.

“For me, the Tour of Slovenia has been an ideal race in the build-up to the Tour de France,” Roglic explained.

“The Tour begins in three weeks and this race was perfect to get the intensity back in the legs. The upcoming weeks will mainly consist of training and resting and hopefully I’m ready for the Tour. But for now, I’ll enjoy my victory.”

LottoNL-Jumbo for the 2018 Tour de France: Robert Gesink, Primoz Roglic, Steven Kruijswijk, Dylan Groenewegen, Paul Martens, Timo Roosen, Amund Grondahl Jansen and Antwan Tolhoek
