Mikel Landa (Team Sky) sealed the overall title at Vuelta a Burgos with another strong climbing display on the final day in Spain.

Landa led the way in the closing stages on the famous Lagunas de Neila climb, before Miguel Angel Lopez (Astana) hit out to take the stage five win. Landa rolled home 11 seconds down in third place. He celebrated as he crossed the line, safe in the knowledge that he had held onto the purple leader’s jersey.

Enric Mas (Quick-Step Floors) was Landa’s closest challenger on GC. His fellow countryman finished second on the stage but 40 seconds back overall.

Not only did Landa wrap up the title, but he also takes home the mountains prize, the best Spanish rider, and the points jersey after a near flawless week on home soil.
