Alexey Lutsenko (Astana) snatched overall victory in the Arctic Race of Norway form Warren Barguil (Arkéa-Samsic) as Markus Hoelgaard (Uno-X) won the final stage.

Astana took control of the pace of the peloton and the Kazakh rider took three bonus seconds in the last intermediate sprint, while Barguil took two. Although the rider tried to attack several times in the last kilometre it all came down to the final sprint.

Markus Hoelgaard took the victory from an earlier attack, Amund Groendahl Janse (Jumbo-Visma) was second and Lutsenko was in the third position, which gave him five bonus seconds over Barguil, who finished fourth.

“I am so happy with this victory!” said Lutsenko. “It is an amazing feeling to fight until the last meter and to win! I had huge support from my team, and I want to thank all teammates for this week and for this victory! It is our team’s success!”

“Yesterday we had a super hard stage and the final climb did not suit me really well, but I knew that today’s profile would suit me much better. So, I was motivated to do something, and I succeed. I knew I had to attack on the local laps, and I did my best. I attacked for many times, but every time Barguil was on my wheel. He did a great race too.
