Three-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome was the victim of apparent road rage on Tuesday morning.

The 31-year-old cyclist tweeted that he was cycling when a driver rammed his bicycle onto a pavement. He didn’t appear to have been hurt, but said that his bike had been “totaled”.

“Just got rammed on purpose by an impatient driver who followed me onto the pavement!” he wrote. “Thankfully I’m okay. Bike totalled. Driver kept going!”

The picture was geotagged from Beausoleil in France, close to Froome’s home in Monaco.

Last month, former Giro d’Italia winner Michele Scarponi of the Astana team was killed when he was knocked off his bike by a van while training in Italy.
