Former Tour of Flanders and Milan-San Remo winner Alexander Kristoff will join UAE Team Emirates for the 2018 season.

In an announcement on its Facebook page, UAE Team Emirates confirmed that Kristoff had reached personal terms and would sign the official contract in the coming weeks, pending medical tests.

#UAETeamEmirates has reached a deal with cyclist #AlexanderKristoff to take him into the ranks of the team for the 2018 and 2019 seasons. The definitive contract will be signed in the next few weeks, after some routine tests by the team’s medical staff,” the team wrote on Facebook.

Kristoff would be UAE Team Emirates’s leader in the cobbled classic.  The move will be a big boost for UAE. The team has only 13 UCI wins to its credit so far in 2017.

With Kristoff on the way out of Katusha-Alpecin, a rider that could find themselves on the way in is Marcel Kittel. The German sprinter has been heavily rumoured to be moving across to the Swiss team.
